Cecilia "Ducky" Angelina Barnes October 2, 1917-January 30, 2017 Cecilia "Ducky" Barnes passed away on January 30, 2017 after 99 years of an extraordinary life. She was one of eight children born in Oxnard, California to Joe and Isa Gonzales. She moved to Los Angeles as a young girl and spent her formative years there. She met the love of her life, Henry Barnes, in Los Angeles. They were married on July 18, 1942 in Texas, separated during WWII, reuniting again in Los Angeles after the war. Together with Henry they ran a successful trucking business, Sunline Trucking. They sold that business in 1962 and later established Fairmont Furniture Manufacturing which they ran until 1979 after moving to Vista. Ducky was the proud mother of three children, Pat, Diane, and Mike. She was a devoted mother and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. After retirement, together with Henry, she found true happiness in spending time with each of her seven grandchildren. They were happiest when they saw their grandchildren playing together in their backyard or swimming pool. She also enjoyed traveling with Henry to Mexico each winter, inviting her grandchildren to join them whenever possible. One of her delights was decorating her home, especially for the holidays. She was an accomplished seamstress and made clothing and quilts as well as a prom formal for each of her granddaughters. Ducky was the ultimate hostess. She graciously opened her house, providing food, fun, and drink to anyone who happened by. She also welcomed, for extended periods, any family member needing respite and/or support. Every visitor always felt safe and cared for in Ducky and Henry's home. Ducky is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Barnes. She is survived by her sister, Helen Settle, three children-Pat Stockard, Mike Barnes, and Diane Otto and their spouses, Richard Stockard and Bonnie Barnes, her seven grandchildren and spouses, and her twelve great grandchildren. The family of Ducky wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Aegis Living at Shadowridge and Elizabeth Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
