Mr. Wenceslao (Willie) Flores Antaran , Sr.

Wenceslao (Willie) Flores Antaran Sr. passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 in San Marcos, California. He was born in Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Pandan, Antique, Philippines on May 17, 1935 to Iglecerio & Teofista Antaran. He married his childhood sweetheart, Conchita Ausan Naviamos and blessed with seven (7) wonderful, successful children, twenty (20) beautiful grandchildren and one (1) great grandson. He graduated Suma Cum Laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at Lyceum University, Philippines. Willie was the Founder/President of the Labor Union at the Manila Yacht Club with more than 1000 members. He was later elected as the Vice President of the Federation of Union of Rizal with more than 1 million members nationwide. In 1979, he sacrificed to be away from his family 10 months of the year to work in a private luxury yacht that cruised around the world. He had circumnavigated the entire world twice. He opted to be away from his family to make sure he can send all his growing children to college and pursue their respected dreams. In 1984, when his wife and family finally joined him in the US as immigrants, he quit his job at sea and settled in California. From 1984-1996 he worked at various accounting firms while at the same time enjoyed being a grandpa to ever growing family. He was a retired Financial Analyst of Edwards Theatres, Inc. based in Newport Beach, CA. He was a lifelong member of Pagtatap Foundation USA, a non profit organization geared towards medical mission etc. of Pandan and neighboring towns. In 1997, the family moved to San Diego, CA. He managed a family owned business "Filipino Depot", the first grocery store and fast food restaurant in the city of San Marcos. In 2001, due to health reasons and medical advise, he spent his precious time enjoying his large and happy family which he proudly called "THE GREATEST BLESSING OF ALL!" He is survived by his beloved wife, Conchita N. Antaran, seven children namely: Merlene (Ken), Jun (Sophie), Vic (Masaaki) Tess (Ray), William (Lovely), Paz (Gary) and Ping (Jeff). He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren, Kevin, John Paul, John Vincent, John Benedict, Yoshito, RJ, Junimar, Arisa Marie, Hazel, Kiersten, Wences, Chelsy, Audrey, JR, Wesley, Mikki, Xy-za, John, Des, MJ and one great grandson, Ryuchi.
