Mrs. Virginia Diana Davis

Virginia Davis passed away surrounded in the love of her family on July 7, 2017. Virginia was born in Bellflower, CA, on October 10, 1943. She grew up there with her parents Marion and Mary Freeman, along with her two brothers Allen and Wayne. Virginia met her husband of 55 years, Frederick Dean, through family and corresponded with him as he served our country in the Navy. Virginia married Dean quickly after he returned from deployment to Japan. Virginia and Dean raised 3 children - Allen Davis (Tammi) and Diana Ornelas (Hector). Virginia is preceded in death by their daughter Deena who tragically passed away in 2009. Virginia was a long time employee of the San Marcos School District where she worked as an Instructional Aide until her retirement. There Virginia made lifelong friends who remained special to her for the remainder of her life. Virginia was very devoted to her family and was clearly loved and treasured by all. Virginia was especially proud of her grandchildren - Chelsea Monge (Christopher), Julie Ornelas, Tori Davis and Tessa Barganski. Virginia was clearly taken with her first great-grandchild, Christopher Monge Jr. This is the formal stuff that you are supposed to say at times like this, but as I write this I feel the overwhelming need to just tell you about Mom! Mom was an Angel here on earth! You would never have met a kinder, more special person. She was truly beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. She made everyone feel special. It did not matter who you were, it was just her way. All it took was the welcoming smile on her face and the sparkle of her blue eyes. Mom's love for her family was remarkable. Dad was her hero! Most often Mom could be seen wearing the color blue, not because it was her favorite color, but Dad's. Mom always thought of others first. If there was a need to be met, she was there. Her discomfort did not matter to her, her focus was always on the needs of others. Our family has been so blessed to have her as our Mom, provider, confidant and friend. The patience that she displayed as a parent has always been an example to me and I hope that I have inherited at least some of it. Mom always remained close to her brothers Allen And Wayne and often served as a peacemaker between the two. They shared a great relationship and called each other frequently. All who knew Mom are aware of her outstanding sewing skills. The family that watched us grow up had the benefit of seeing all the clothes that she would make for us kids. Not only did her kids benefit from her skills, but also her grandchildren, who had a different outfit for each holiday. Later in life her skills expanded to making quilts. Mom had a true love for quilting and I am sure that 90% of the family would freeze to death if not for her skills. Her quilts were loved by all and the articles that she created are coveted by many. It is my hope that when you sleep under her quilts that were made by truly loving hands, you will dream of her and smile knowing that you were loved. Mom did have several clubs that she attended on a regular basis - The Red Hats, Neighborhood Guild Group and the North County Quilters Group. There she made many friends and would spend many hours sharing their skill together. In closing, I would like to thank family and friends for all their support during this most difficult time. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us as we navigate our loss.
