Mr. Miguel C. Vega

Miguel entered into eternal rest on the early morning of August 29th, 2013. The relatives and friends of Mike are invited to attend the funeral mass at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church Friday, September 6th at 11:00 am Burial will be at San Marcos Cemetery on September 6th at 1:00 pm Mike was born March 26th, 1950 in Toluca, Mexico a son of the late Jesus and Carman Vega. Mike is survived by his wife Donna; Daughter, Christina Vega; Son, Michael Vega; 4 Brothers; Rudy, Carlos, Henry, Jessie, 1 Sister; Lupe. Miguel Vega's Eulogy written and read by his Daughter, Christina Vega On behalf of my Mom; Donna and Brother; Michael, thank you all for being here today to honor my father and return him to the hands of The Lord and his rightful home with God. For everyone that may not know, my name is Christina and I'm his eldest daughter. It has been said that the average person lies on their deathbed, lamenting the things they'd wish they'd done. As you all know, my dad was a very positive person. I know I never heard him complain about anything, and he certainly didn't spend his final months going on about missed opportunities. He always made the most of what he had, and what he had, he gave to others. My dad was a selfless man. He set examples, not through his words, but through his actions. Now as an adult and have had experienced a 40 hour work week, I know the first thing I want to do when I come home is sit on the couch- that was never the case with my dad. He found time for others- for his children, to help a family member or fellow neighbor or friend. I remember as a child him coming home from work and asking us what WE wanted to do, whether it was to "throw the ball around" (play baseball), helping us with our homework or his favorite, playing music in the garage. He lived his life with so much passion and one of his passions were the drums. He touched so many lives and one of the ways was through music. As my father-in-law put it, "St. Peter has a new drummer now." After hearing and telling so many wonderful stories about my dad it seems the common theme revolves around his giving heart. My dad truly left us with gifts and in closing, I hope this reading will help us all continue to let my dad live through us and share his gifts with others. A reading from the book of Matthew… "But take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you."
